Em Mateus 16, Pedro (Shimon Kefa) recebeu uma revelação significativa de Yeshua. Havia 4 partes para esta revelação histórica:

Autoridade Espiritual delegada
Proteção contra as forças Satânicas
Mateus 16.16-19 Respondendo Simão Pedro, disse: Tu és o Cristo, o Filho do Deus vivo. Então, Jesus lhe afirmou: Bem-aventurado és, Simão Barjonas, porque não foi carne e sangue que to revelaram, mas meu Pai, que está nos céus… sobre esta pedra edificarei a minha igreja, e as portas do inferno não prevalecerão contra ela. Dar-te-ei as chaves do reino dos céus; o que ligares na terra terá sido ligado nos céus; e o que desligares na terra terá sido desligado nos céus.
Quando uma pessoa recebe uma revelação de Yeshua, ele se torna um membro da Ecclesia, a comunidade universal de fé da Nova Aliança. Esse pertencimento deve ser expresso pela participação ativa em uma congregação local composta de crentes com o mesmo coração e propósito.
Quando recebemos revelação do céu sobre Yeshua, também recebemos autoridade do céu através dele. A revelação e a autoridade formam um conjunto chamado simbolicamente aqui de “chaves”. Quando nos submetemos à autoridade de Yeshua, recebemos autoridade por estar debaixo dele (Lucas 7.7).
A autoridade espiritual vem de duas maneiras: diretamente, através do nome de Yeshua e indiretamente, através da liderança da congregação local. Nas duas formas, seja direta ou delegada, toda autoridade espiritual vem da submissão. Estar sob a cobertura da autoridade é um lugar de proteção. É protegido, seguro e estável. É uma “rocha”.
Nessa posição, estamos protegidos das forças do mal e somos capazes de liberar a vontade de Deus nesta terra. Estamos tão protegidos do mal que até mesmo os “portões” do inferno não podem nos derrotar. Temos tanta capacidade de liberar a vontade de Deus, que aquilo que “ligamos” ou “desligamos” na terra será ligado ou desligado no céu.
The Study of Religion in the Undergraduate Curriculum is an outgrowth of a long-standing worry by the Association of American Colleges’ Commission on Religion in Higher Education to en-fearlessness and improve the investigation of religion as a scholarly order in all undergrad human sciences schools. The investigation, coordinated by Claude Welch, some time ago Chairman of the Department of Religious Thought at the University of Pennsylvania and now Dean of the Graduate Theological Union at Berklely, California, speaks to a noteworthy assemblage, examination, and understanding of current practices and trial endeavors at the undergrad level. Over the past about six years extensive consideration has been dedicated to the investigation of religion in American schools and colleges by different concerned gatherings. Two especially imperative reports are The Study of Religion in American Universities (1965), composed by Robert Michaelson and supported by the Society for Religion in Higher Education, and The Study of Religion on the Campus of Today (1967), a choice of papers from a meeting supported by the Association of American Colleges altered via Carl D. Hartzell and Harrison Sasscer.
In 1969 the American Council of Learned Societies attempted an investigation of alumni instruction in the field of religion. Perceiving the estimation of this data, the Commission on Religion in Higher Education of the AAC made plans to look for establishment backing to empower it to use this information in a different investigation of religion in undergrad programs. The motivation behind such an examination was three-fold:to depict and dissect existing undergrad programs in religion: to portray and investigate new curricular improvements and test endeavors in the field, and to introduce different points of view on the undergrad instructing of religion. The finished investigation is routed to those voting public inside and outside our schools and colleges who are worried about the instructing of religion – scholarly directors, resources of religion, religious networks and church sheets of advanced education. The Edward W. Hazen Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities liberally reacted to our solicitation for assets to help this undertaking, and to both of these generous associations the Association is generally thankful. It is our expectation that the data accumulated in this investigation will add to a proceeding with exchange on the repetition of the instructing of religion as a scholarly order.
O oposto também é verdadeiro: se não temos uma revelação pessoal de Yeshua e/ou não somos membros de uma congregação local, temos pouca autoridade para influenciar o mundo para o bem por meio do reino de Deus, e ficamos expostos a ataque demoníaco.
A “chave” é uma revelação de Yeshua juntamente com uma compreensão da autoridade espiritual. A “rocha” é uma revelação de Yeshua, juntamente com a participação ativa em uma congregação local. Quando estamos na rocha, temos as chaves. Se não estamos na rocha, não temos as chaves. Nossos pés devem estar na Rocha e as Chaves devem estar em nossas mãos.
